Andy Warhol was born in 1928 in Pittsburg, USA. His parents had immigrated from Slovakia in the early 1920s and his real name was Warhola. He received an artistic education at university level and then worked as an advertising cartoonist before he eventually became an absolute leading figure in pop art. He was seriously shot in 1968 by Valerie Solanas who thought he took up too much space in his life. It later turned out that she was suffering from schizophrenia. The injury became serious and took a long time to heal. It changed his attitude towards art forever. The works by him that we provide are all certified by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts Inc.
